Kathryn Tompkins is an artist whose work spans recording, music, video and performance. Coming from a background specializing in video editing and art-making, and as a cassette mastering engineer, Kathryn's approach to recording and production is rooted in the use of tape while using several loop pedals/analogue samplers for live editing and looping to compose tracks. With a strong concern and value in improvisation, Tompkins songs and lyrics form as direct and immediate as the music it is anchored to. Distilling present-day emotions, scenes of day-to-day experiences and reflections when simply existing and carrying out Pan-Africanist ideals.
